Envision IPL + RF Treatment
Advanced Therapy for Inflammation & Meibomian Gland Dysfunction
When chronic inflammation and gland obstruction drive dry eye, surface drops alone cannot restore stability.
At Eye Care By Design, we are excite to offer Envision by InMode, a non-invasive treatment designed to address meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) — one of the most common causes of chronic dry eye.
MGD occurs when the oil glands in the eyelids become blocked or inflamed. When this happens, tears evaporate too quickly, leading to symptoms such as dryness, irritation, redness, and fluctuating vision.
Envision combines Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Radiofrequency (RF) to improve gland function, reduce eyelid inflammation, and support a more stable tear film.
How the Treatment Works
Radiofrequency (RF)
Radiofrequency gently warms the eyelids to help soften and release thickened oils within the meibomian glands. Improving oil flow helps stabilize the tear film and reduce tear evaporation.
RF energy also stimulates collagen production in the skin around the eyes, which can improve skin elasticity and texture.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL delivers controlled pulses of light to the skin around the eyelids. The light targets abnormal blood vessels that contribute to eyelid inflammation.
Reducing inflammation helps support healthier gland function and can also decrease redness and uneven pigmentation around the eyes.
Who May Benefit From IPL + RF
This treatment may be helpful for patients experiencing:
- Dry, irritated, or burning eyes
- Redness along the eyelids or ocular rosacea
- Fluctuating or blurry vision
- A gritty or sandy sensation
- Contact lenses that have become less comfortable
- Recurrent styes or eyelid inflammation
Many of these symptoms are related to meibomian gland dysfunction, which affects the stability of the tear film.
Why We Offer This Treatment
Dry eye is often more complex than simply not producing enough tears. In many patients, the underlying issue involves inflammation and dysfunction of the meibomian glands, which play an essential role in maintaining a healthy tear film.
Envision IPL and Radiofrequency allow us to address these underlying factors by improving gland function and reducing eyelid inflammation.
At Eye Care By Design, our goal is not only to relieve symptoms but to identify and treat the underlying causes of ocular surface disease.
Personalized Dry Eye Care
Every patient begins with a comprehensive ocular surface evaluation, where we assess tear stability, eyelid health, and meibomian gland function.
Based on these findings, we create a personalized treatment plan designed to support long-term ocular surface health and comfort.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How many treatments are needed?
Most patients benefit from a series of treatments, typically spaced several weeks apart. The exact number depends on the severity of gland dysfunction and individual response to treatment. - Is IPL safe near the eyes?
Yes. Ocular-specific safety protocols and protective shields are used. Treatment parameters are adjusted for safety and skin type. - Is the procedure comfortable?
Treatments are generally well tolerated. Patients typically describe a warming sensation during RF and brief pulses of light during IPL. - When will I see improvement?
Results develop gradually and vary by individual. Many patients notice progressive improvement throughout the treatment series.
